Terms of Service

The rules for using Mentorees — creating an account, booking mentorship, messaging, paying mentors, and offering services as a mentor.

Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of mentorees.com and related Mentorees services (the “Platform”).

By creating an account, checking the acceptance box at signup or mentor application, booking a session, messaging another user, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy at /privacy.

If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

Mentorees operates an online marketplace that connects mentees with independent mentors. Mentorees is not a party to the mentorship relationship and does not employ mentors.

Accounts

To use most features, you must create an account and provide accurate, current information.

  • Registration — you may sign up with email and password or, when enabled, through Google or Microsoft sign-in.
  • Roles — accounts are created as mentees by default. You may apply to become a mentor through the mentor application flow.
  • Age — the Platform may be used by people aged 12 and older. If you are under 18, you may use Mentorees only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
  • Security — you are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity on your account.
  • Verification — we may require email verification, phone verification, or other checks before enabling certain features such as InstaPay checkout or mentor visibility.
  • Account deletion — you may permanently delete your account from Account settings. Deletion is subject to the limits described in our Privacy Policy.
  • One person, one account — you may not create accounts to impersonate others, evade enforcement, or misrepresent your identity.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Mentorees lawfully, respectfully, and only for legitimate mentorship purposes.

  • No harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual exploitation, or abusive conduct toward other users.
  • No spam, unsolicited promotion, pyramid schemes, or off-platform payment solicitation intended to bypass Mentorees.
  • No misleading profiles, false credentials, fake reviews, or impersonation.
  • No uploading malware, attempting to break into accounts or systems, scraping at abusive rates, or interfering with Platform operation.
  • No content that violates applicable law or infringes another person’s intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Reporting — verified mentees may report mentors through the contact/report flow. Mentorees may review reports and take action at its discretion.
  • Mentor blocks — mentors may block a mentee from messaging them. Blocks are intended for safety and are not a substitute for reporting serious misconduct.

User Content

You may submit content on the Platform, including profile information, photos, intro videos, messages, session notes, reviews, and booking briefs (“User Content”).

You retain ownership of your User Content, but you grant Mentorees a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and process User Content as needed to operate the Platform, facilitate bookings and messaging, handle safety reports, and comply with law.

You represent that you have the rights to submit your User Content and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.

Mentorees may remove or restrict User Content, or suspend access, when we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, creates risk for users, or is required by law.

Session notes and messages may be stored on our servers. Do not include highly sensitive personal data unless necessary for the mentorship session.

Mentor Responsibilities

If you offer mentorship on Mentorees, you act as an independent provider — not as an employee, agent, or partner of Mentorees.

  • Application and approval — new mentors may be reviewed before appearing publicly. Mentorees may approve, reject, or request changes to mentor profiles.
  • Accurate profiles — you must provide truthful information about your experience, skills, pricing, availability, and InstaPay or payment details.
  • InstaPay link — in direct collection mode, mentees pay your InstaPay account. You must maintain a valid InstaPay payment link when accepting paid bookings through InstaPay.
  • Sessions — you are responsible for attending confirmed sessions on time, using the provided Jitsi meeting link when applicable, and communicating professionally with mentees.
  • Advice disclaimer — mentorship is for general guidance only. You are responsible for the advice you give. Mentorees does not guarantee outcomes, job offers, admissions, or financial results.
  • Compliance — you must comply with applicable laws, tax obligations, and professional rules that apply to you in your jurisdiction.
  • Packages and availability — you control your calendar, packages, and pricing within the tools Mentorees provides.
  • Cancellation payables — when a mentee cancels an eligible paid standalone session (more than 24 hours before start), Mentorees may record a platform payable against you for the session amount. You must settle open payables through the Payables dashboard using Mentorees’ designated InstaPay account and receipt upload flow.

Payments

Mentorees supports mentorship payments as described below. Prices on mentor profiles are generally shown in USD unless stated otherwise.

InstaPay (direct collection)

Mentorees currently uses InstaPay as the live payment method in direct collection mode. In this mode, mentees transfer payment directly to the mentor’s InstaPay account linked on the mentor profile.

  • No Mentorees service fee is added to InstaPay checkout in direct collection mode.
  • Mentees may need to upload a payment receipt or screenshot so Mentorees can verify the transfer against the expected amount (including USD-to-EGP conversion shown at checkout).
  • Verification may be automated and/or reviewed manually by Mentorees staff.
  • A booking is not confirmed until payment verification succeeds under the checkout flow.

Card payments (when enabled)

Card payments through Stripe may be offered when enabled. When card checkout is live, a service fee may apply in addition to the mentor’s session or package price.

  • The service fee rate shown at checkout applies to card payments unless waived by a promotion or account benefit.
  • Stripe processes card payments under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Demo or preview checkout modes may exist in non-production environments and do not represent a live charge.

Packages, slot holds, and checkout timing

Mentors may sell packages of sessions. Checkout may temporarily hold a time slot while a mentee completes payment.

  • Slot holds expire if payment is not completed in time. If a hold expires, the mentee must select a new slot.
  • Package credits are managed according to the package terms shown at purchase.

Refunds and Cancellations

Mentorees connects mentees with independent mentors. Cancellation windows, refund eligibility, and settlement steps depend on booking type, payment method, and how much notice is given before the session starts.

Standalone paid sessions are not refunded automatically in the app. Eligible mentees may request a refund by email. Mentorees reviews requests manually and, when approved, coordinates refund payment to the mentee. Mentors may owe the platform a corresponding payable when an eligible standalone session is cancelled.

Mentee cancellations

Mentees may cancel a confirmed upcoming session online only if the cancellation is made more than 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

  • Sessions starting within 24 hours cannot be cancelled online through the Platform.
  • Sessions that have already started cannot be cancelled online.
  • Cancelling releases the time slot and removes the booking from your schedule.
  • Cancellation alone does not automatically return money for standalone paid sessions — see the refund request section below when eligible.

Package sessions

If a cancelled session was booked using a package credit, the credit is returned to the mentee’s package automatically when the cancellation is allowed under these Terms.

  • Package sessions are not eligible for the standalone cash refund workflow described below.
  • The remedy for an eligible package cancellation is restoration of package credit, not a separate InstaPay or card refund.

Refund requests (standalone paid sessions)

A refund may be requested only for a standalone paid session (not a package credit) that was cancelled more than 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

After an eligible cancellation, the Platform may show refund instructions. To request a refund, email help@mentorees.com using the subject line Request Refund.

  • Attach your InstaPay or card payment receipt (screenshot or image of the successful transfer).
  • Include the session start timestamp in UTC, the mentor’s username shown on their profile, and the InstaPay address or phone number where you want the refund sent.
  • Mentorees reviews refund requests manually. We may approve or deny a request based on payment verification records, cancellation timing, duplicate charges, fraud indicators, mentor conduct, or other relevant factors.
  • If approved, Mentorees processes the refund manually and sends confirmation to the mentee by email. Processing time depends on verification and payment rails.
  • Providing incorrect refund details or receipts may delay or prevent a refund.

Mentor payables after eligible cancellations

When a mentee cancels an eligible standalone paid session, Mentorees may record a payable owed by the mentor to the Platform for the session amount to support refund mediation.

  • Mentors are notified by email and in-app notification when a payable is created.
  • Open payables can be viewed and settled from the Payables area of the mentor dashboard.
  • Settlement is made by transferring the owed amount to Mentorees’ designated InstaPay account (shown in Payables or related Platform communications) and uploading a clear payment receipt.
  • Receipts may be verified automatically and/or reviewed manually. Partial payments may be accepted and are applied to the oldest open payables first.
  • Failure to settle payables when due may affect mentor account standing, visibility, or payout-related features at Mentorees’ discretion.

Mentor cancellations and no-shows

If a mentor cancels a confirmed session or fails to attend a confirmed paid session, the mentee should contact help@mentorees.com or support@mentorees.com with the booking reference, session time, payment receipt, and a brief description of what happened.

Mentorees will review the case and may offer a refund, credit, rescheduling assistance, or other remedy at its discretion.

Review, timing, and payment disputes

All refund decisions described in this section are made by Mentorees in its reasonable discretion, subject to applicable law.

  • Mentorees is not responsible for refund delays caused by incorrect InstaPay details, missing receipts, or third-party payment provider processing times.
  • Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or payment provider without contacting Mentorees first may result in account restriction while the matter is investigated.
  • Questions about a specific cancellation or refund should be sent to help@mentorees.com with the booking reference and receipt attached.

Account Suspension and Termination

Mentorees may suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts, or remove content, at its discretion when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Platform, or legal compliance.

  • Grounds may include violations of these Terms, fraud, payment abuse, repeated no-shows, harassment, misleading profiles, report findings, or attempts to circumvent Platform rules.
  • Mentor application rejection — Mentorees may reject or remove mentor profiles that do not meet quality, safety, or eligibility standards.
  • Self-service deletion — you may delete your own account at any time from settings, subject to retention limits described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Effect — suspension or termination may limit access to bookings, messaging, payouts, or public profiles. Mentorees is not obligated to provide a detailed explanation in every case, but serious enforcement actions may be communicated by email when appropriate.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mentorees disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Mentorees does not control mentor advice, mentee decisions, or third-party services such as Jitsi video calls, Google or Microsoft sign-in, Stripe, InstaPay, or email/SMS providers. Your use of those services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Mentorees and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of the Platform or any mentorship session.

Mentorees’ total liability for any claim relating to the Platform or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Mentorees in platform fees for the booking giving rise to the claim during the three months before the event, or (b) USD $100, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those cases, the above limits apply only to the extent permitted by law.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Mentorees is operated from Cairo, Egypt. Unless mandatory local law requires otherwise, you agree that courts located in Egypt shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform.

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact hello@mentorees.com or support@mentorees.com and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally.

General

Mentorees may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-product notice where appropriate.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
